India Advances Cross-Border Electricity Initiatives
India is advancing cross-border electricity initiatives under the "One Sun One World One Grid" (OSOWOG) program to create a global renewable energy grid. With partners like Oman and the UAE, projects such as a 1,000 km undersea cable to Oman aim to enhance renewable energy flow. India currently exchanges 4,100 MW of electricity with neighbors and plans to increase this to 7,000 MW by 2026-27. These efforts optimize resource use, reduce fossil fuel dependence, and stabilize grids. Challenges include high costs and regulatory hurdles, but strategic partnerships and technology-driven solutions position India as a leader in sustainable energy.
