India Advances 6G Technology Development
India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) announced in July 2024 its plans to advance 6G technology through a collaboration with IIT Roorkee and IIT Mandi. This initiative aims to develop "Cell-Free" 6G Access Points to enhance mobile communication. The partnership with C-DOT and top Indian institutes aims to create future radio access networks, standardize 6G technologies, generate intellectual property, and develop a skilled workforce. The project utilizes ‘Cell-Free’ Massive MIMO technology for ubiquitous connectivity, stronger signals, and faster data speeds. Expected around 2030, 6G will offer speeds over 100 Gbps, low delay, and applications in holographic communication, IoT, and AI-driven network control, improving global connectivity and focusing on s
