Human Rights Day 2024
Human Rights Day is observed annually on December 10 to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) adopted in 1948. The 2024 theme, Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now, highlights the practical importance of human rights in shaping society. The UDHR guarantees freedoms like equality, security, and expression. In India, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) promotes these rights through advisories, awareness programs, and online complaint systems. It addresses issues such as child abuse and vulnerable group rights. With initiatives like officer training and public workshops, NHRC integrates human rights into governance and education systems.
