First Indian Space Tourist Completes Sub-Orbital Flight
Gopi Thotakura, a commercial pilot from India, made history by becoming the first Indian to complete a sub-orbital space flight on May 19, aboard a Blue Origin-owned spaceship. The ten-minute flight reached an altitude of 105 km, crossing the Karman line into space. Sub-orbital flights, unlike orbital ones, do not circle the Earth but provide brief experiences of weightlessness and stunning views of Earth. This event marks a significant milestone for India's participation in space tourism, a sector with growing potential despite current high costs. The future of space tourism promises technological advancements, reduced costs, and broader accessibility, potentially revolutionizing global travel.
