Interpol’s Silver Notice

Interpol has launched its first Silver Notice to track cross-border laundered assets. This pilot initiative involves 52 member nations, including India, allowing countries to locate properties, vehicles, financial accounts, and businesses tied to criminal activities like fraud and corruption. Each nation can request up to 500 notices, which undergo strict scrutiny to ensure compliance. The Silver Notice aims to address the global issue of unrecovered criminal assets, currently estimated at 99%. Part of Interpol’s suite of colour-coded notices, this innovation represents a significant step in combating transnational organized crime while maintaining data confidentiality during investigations.
