Centre Allocates Rs. 2044 Crore for Rural Local Bodies

The Union Government allocated ₹2,044 crore to rural local bodies in Uttar Pradesh (₹1,598.80 crore) and Andhra Pradesh (₹446.48 crore) for FY 2024–25 to enhance local governance and development. Untied grants empower Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) to address local priorities across 29 subjects in the Eleventh Schedule. Tied grants focus on sanitation, waste management, and water supply improvements. The Ministries of Panchayati Raj and Jal Shakti recommended the grants, with the Ministry of Finance disbursing them in two installments. This initiative supports grassroots democracy and aligns with India's vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.
