National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
Justice V. Ramasubramanian, a retired Supreme Court judge, has been appointed chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) by President Droupadi Murmu, succeeding Justice Arun Kumar Mishra. Priyank Kanoongo and Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi have also joined as members. Justice Ramasubramanian’s extensive judicial experience is expected to strengthen NHRC's role in addressing human rights issues. The NHRC ensures accountability for human rights violations and makes recommendations to the government. The leadership changes aim to enhance the Commission's effectiveness in safeguarding rights, coinciding with broader efforts to uphold justice and fairness.
