India’s First Sign Language Channel
India has launched its first 24/7 television channel in Indian Sign Language (ISL), named Channel 31, as part of the PM e-VIDYA program. Managed by NCERT, it aims to support hearing-impaired students, educators, and stakeholders. The channel provides inclusive education resources aligned with school curricula, focusing on skill training, career guidance, and mental health. Union Ministers emphasized the importance of disability rights and inclusive education. The initiative aligns with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and promotes ISL as a language subject alongside Hindi and English.
