Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary
The Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh has been designated as the state’s 8th tiger reserve by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change with approval from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). Spanning 1,271.4 square kilometers, it includes a core area of 763.8 square kilometers and a buffer zone of 507.6 square kilometers. Located in the Vindhya hills near the UNESCO-listed Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, the reserve aims to enhance ecotourism, conservation efforts, and local livelihoods. Established under Section 38V of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, it aligns with Madhya Pradesh's ongoing wildlife conservation initiatives.
