Palpares contrarius: New Antlion Species

Palpares contrarius, a new antlion species resembling a dragonfly, has been discovered on the Madras Christian College campus in Tamil Nadu. Known for its distinct antennae and nocturnal behavior, its larvae create sand pits to trap ants. Found in various regions globally, this is its first identification in Tamil Nadu. Anita Pearline Esther documented the species in the Journal of Threatened Taxa, with the specimen preserved at ZSI, Chennai. This discovery emphasizes the region's rich biodiversity and the importance of ongoing research initiatives at MCC's 320-acre campus.
