Tamil Nadu’s Green Energy Corridor-II Initiative

Tamil Nadu’s Green Energy Corridor-II (GEC-II) aims to integrate 4,000 MW of renewable energy into its transmission system, part of a national 19 GW target. Valued at ₹719.76 crore, the project includes 624 ckm transmission lines and 2,200 MVA substations. The ₹12,031.33 crore initiative receives 33% Central Financial Assistance. Following GEC-I's success, GEC-II prioritizes modernizing infrastructure and enhancing grid integration. With funding from institutions like KfW and REC, Tamil Nadu's role in boosting renewable energy capacity reflects India's commitment to sustainable energy. Challenges include high costs and infrastructure delays.
