World’s Water Cycle Crisis

A UN report, released on October 7, 2024, warns that the global water cycle is becoming increasingly unpredictable due to climate change. Severe droughts, floods, and the largest glacier mass loss in 50 years are impacting billions of people. Rising temperatures intensify both rain and drought, stressing agriculture, ecosystems, and freshwater supplies. Currently, 3.6 billion people face water shortages for at least a month annually, with this figure expected to rise to 5 billion by 2050. The UN calls for urgent action, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving freshwater monitoring and early warning systems.
