National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans Tracker (NBSAP)
As the COP16 biodiversity conference approaches in October 2024, the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAP) Tracker, created by WWF, monitors global progress on biodiversity conservation. Only 9 countries, plus the EU, have updated their plans in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) goals to halt biodiversity loss by 2030. NBSAPs outline national strategies but often face challenges like lack of funding and cross-sector coordination. The Tracker helps track over 2,500 global actions and encourages inclusive planning, highlighting the importance of civil society and indigenous involvement.
