India Launches Malpe and Mulki ASW Ships
Summary: The Indian Navy launched two anti-submarine warfare (ASW) ships, Malpe and Mulki, at Cochin Shipyard Ltd, marking the fourth and fifth vessels in an eight-ship project. These ships are designed to enhance India's coastal defence and anti-submarine operations in shallow waters, equipped with advanced underwater sensors and capable of reaching speeds of 25 knots. Built using over 80% domestic materials, they support India’s 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative to boost self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
