Maldives India’s RuPay Service
The Maldives plans to launch India's RuPay payment service to strengthen its local currency, the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), despite recent diplomatic tensions with India. The introduction of RuPay, India's first world card payment network operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), aims to enhance financial cooperation, reduce reliance on the US dollar, and boost the local economy. This move promises to improve travel, tourism, and business ties between the two countries, even as they navigate political challenges.
