Deepfakes are permeating into various aspects of the society- ranging from cyber-harassment to election manipulations- with significant negative consequences. It is high time a proper regulatory framework is put in place.
What are deepfakes?
- Deepfakes are fake content- pictures, audio or video- created using deep learning technology, a type of machine learning technology.
- What sets deepfakes apart from other fake content is how difficult it is to distinguish these AI-generated content from reality.
