2024 Global Trafficking Report
The 2024 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons by UNODC highlights a 25% increase in detected trafficking victims since 2019 due to poverty, conflict, and climate issues. Women and girls make up 61% of victims, with 60% of girls trafficked for sexual exploitation. Child victim numbers rose by 31%, and forced labour trafficking increased by 47%. Africa faces severe trafficking challenges, with most cases driven by displacement and climate change. Covering 156 countries, the report stresses global cooperation, improved victim identification, and enhanced prevention measures to address evolving trafficking patterns like cyber fraud.
