Advancements in Nanoscale Light Control
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has advanced nanoscale light control by integrating two-dimensional semiconductor colloidal quantum wells (CQWs) with dielectric metasurface resonators (MSRs). This innovation boosts light emission properties, enabling quantum communication and photonic device advancements. CQWs exhibit unique optical qualities, and MSRs manipulate light precisely. The integration achieved a 12-fold brightness increase and long-range photon transport over 1 mm, crucial for compact quantum devices. Future research aims to develop single-photon sources for quantum cryptography. With applications in secure communication and sensing, this breakthrough represents a significant leap in quantum photonics and materials science.
