Key Initiatives Launched at Genome India Data Conclave

At the Genome India Data Conclave, India announced significant advancements in genomics, including the launch of the Indian Genomic Data Set, Framework for Exchange of Data Protocols (FeED), and Indian Biological Data Centre (IBDC) Portals. These platforms offer access to 10,000 whole genome samples, reflecting India’s genetic diversity and reducing dependence on foreign data. The GenomeIndia Project, led by the Department of Biotechnology, aims to sequence 10 million genomes to advance personalised healthcare and genetic research. Ethical sharing protocols, bioeconomy growth, and collaborative efforts underscore India’s leadership in biotechnology, enhancing healthcare, agriculture, and environmental applications.
