NCLT Appointments Boost Corporate Governance in India
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has appointed 24 new members to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), including 11 Judicial Members and 13 Technical Members. This move aims to enhance the tribunal’s efficiency in resolving corporate disputes under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and the Companies Act. Established in 2016, the NCLT serves as a quasi-judicial body for insolvency resolutions and corporate governance. The appointments are expected to expedite case resolutions, reduce pendency, and foster investor confidence. With the IBC being central to India’s economic reforms, these appointments signify a commitment to effective dispute resolution and entrepreneurship promotion.
