Kharif Rice Procurement Trends 2024

India's Kharif rice procurement in 2024-25 shows a mix of growth and decline across states, with overall production projected at a record 119.93 million tonnes, up 6% from the previous year. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) achieved 64% of its 492.11 lakh tonnes target, driven by procurement in Punjab and Haryana despite minor declines. States like Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh reported notable increases. Challenges include weather-related issues in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The government aims to enhance procurement systems and promote crop diversification for sustained growth.
