Hydroponic Farming Advancements in Tripura
Hydroponic farming, a soil-less agricultural method using nutrient-rich water, is expanding in Tripura with the support of the state government. Commercial setups, covering at least 500 square meters, are producing crops like lettuce, strawberries, and marigolds. This method helps mitigate climate change challenges, particularly heavy rains and floods. With an investment of ₹55 lakh, the initiative aims to enhance farmers’ profitability through higher yields and smaller land use. The government has also provided financial assistance post-recent floods, showcasing hydroponics as a sustainable, profitable alternative for local farmers.
