Aisake Valu Eke Appointed Tonga’s Prime Minister
Aisake Valu Eke, with extensive experience in governance and finance, has been appointed as Tonga’s new Prime Minister, succeeding Hu’akavameiliku Siaosi Sovaleni. Eke, who officially assumes office in February 2024, began his political career in 2010 and served as Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2017. Known for his fiscal responsibility and academic background (PhD in public sector services), Eke faces a brief tenure before Tonga's next elections in November 2025. His appointment aims to stabilize governance amid political and economic challenges, highlighting his expertise in economic reforms and administrative accountability.
