Centre Approves PMAY Houses for Maharashtra

The Centre has approved the construction of 6.5 lakh houses for Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans to add 13 lakh more houses to address housing shortages. PMAY aims to provide affordable housing for the poor, targeting "Housing for All" by 2022, now extended to 2029. Maharashtra’s revised housing target for 2024-25 is 19.66 lakh, up from 6.37 lakh. PMAY-Gramin specifically benefits rural areas by providing permanent homes with amenities. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal to construct three crore homes nationwide, ensuring housing equity and poverty alleviation.
