Direct Tax Collection Surge 2024-25
India’s direct tax collections for FY 2024-25 have surged to ₹19.21 lakh crore, marking a 20.32% increase from the previous year. Corporate tax contributed ₹9.24 lakh crore, while non-corporate tax accounted for ₹9.53 lakh crore. Refunds amounting to ₹3.38 lakh crore were issued, reflecting improved compliance and efficient processes. The net collection grew by over 16% to ₹15.82 lakh crore. This rise signifies strong economic recovery and paves the way for increased government spending on infrastructure, healthcare, and education. The Income Tax Department plans to sustain growth through enhanced digital infrastructure and better taxpayer services.
