Voronezh Radar India-Russia Deal
India and Russia are finalizing a billion agreement to install a Voronezh ballistic missile warning radar in Chitradurga, Karnataka. Developed by Almaz-Antey, this radar uses advanced phased array technology to detect ballistic missiles, stealth aircraft, and space objects with higher efficiency and coverage. India plans to manufacture 60% of the system locally with the involvement of DRDO's Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE). The radar primarily defends against threats from China and Pakistan, strengthening India’s missile early-warning capabilities while promoting domestic manufacturing and employment.
