Farmer IDs: Gujarat Leads
Gujarat has pioneered the implementation of Farmer IDs under the Digital Agriculture Mission, covering 25% of its farmers. These IDs, linked to Aadhaar and land records, automatically update with any changes, enabling real-time data accuracy. Farmer IDs offer benefits such as faster access to government subsidies, crop loans, and personalised farming advice. Other states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh are also adopting this initiative. The programme is part of the Agri Stack framework, aiming to digitise agriculture for improved productivity and policymaking. Registration is facilitated through mobile apps, camps, and Common Service Centres (CSCs).
