One Day One Genome Initiative

The "One Day One Genome" initiative, launched on November 9, 2024, by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), focuses on studying India's microbial diversity. It emphasizes the ecological, agricultural, and health benefits of microorganisms. The initiative uses genome sequencing to explore microbial functions, such as nutrient cycling, pest control, and health support, providing free genome data access to researchers. Led by NIBMG, the program fosters innovation across science and industry. It is expected to advance sustainable development and healthcare through enhanced understanding and utilization of microbial resources.
