Forever Chemicals
'Forever chemicals' or PFAS (Perfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic chemicals resistant to environmental breakdown. A recent study detected PFAS in bottled and tap water from cities in the UK and China. These chemicals, used in everyday products like non-stick cookware and water-resistant clothing, have been linked to serious health issues such as cancer, liver damage, and weakened immunity. Despite their widespread use, PFAS levels in water remain a concern, particularly in some areas like China where they exceed safe limits. Further research and improved water treatment are crucial to mitigating PFAS contamination.
