India’s Maritime Decarbonization Conference
India’s Maritime Decarbonization Conference in New Delhi, co-hosted by the Ministry of Ports and the Asian Development Bank, brought together key players to discuss making maritime operations more eco-friendly. Topics included green port infrastructure, reducing emissions, and transitioning to zero-carbon fuels like hydrogen and ammonia. India highlighted its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, aligning with Maritime India Vision 2030. The conference emphasized guidelines such as Harit Sagar and Harit Nauka to promote sustainability. Maritime decarbonization, though costly, is crucial to reducing the shipping industry’s global emissions, which account for nearly 3% of CO2.
