India-China Commitment to Border Peace

India and China have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace along their shared border, particularly in the tense Ladakh region, during the 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) in Beijing. Building on historical agreements dating back to 1993, both nations agreed to respect the established borderline and enhance communication through diplomatic and military channels. The WMCC, established in 2012, plays a critical role in managing border issues, preventing conflicts, and fostering trust. The meeting followed high-level discussions in July 2024 between Indian and Chinese foreign ministers, aiming to expedite border issue resolutions and stabilize relations.
