Solar Village Scheme
The Solar Village Scheme is a Maharashtra government initiative aimed at powering 100 villages entirely with solar energy. The scheme is part of a larger effort to promote renewable energy, particularly solar power, and improve the lives of rural residents by eliminating electricity bills and providing free electricity to farmers. The first successful project under this scheme is Manyachiwadi in Satara district, now the state's first fully solar-powered village. The program, supported by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, plans to expand to more villages, supporting India's broader goals of renewable energy and rural development.
