Kagame Sworn In for Fourth Term as Rwanda President

Paul Kagame, Rwanda's long-serving president, was sworn in for his fourth term on August 11, 2024, after winning an election with over 99% of the vote. While Kagame is praised for Rwanda's economic and infrastructural progress and his role in ending the 1994 genocide, his presidency is heavily criticized for human rights abuses, political repression, and alleged involvement in the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite these criticisms, Kagame vows to continue working for peace and unity in Rwanda.
