ADB to build 400 MW Solar Power Plant in Gujarat

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided a Rs 1,460 crore loan to ENGIE group for constructing a 400 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Surendranagar, Gujarat. This project aligns with India's goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030. The financing, co-arranged with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), supports sustainable growth and climate change mitigation. The plant will use bifacial photovoltaic modules, supporting local manufacturing. Over its 25-year lifespan, it will generate 805 GWh annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 662,441 tonnes per year. This marks the second collaboration between ADB and ENGIE in India, emphasizing long-term green energy investments.
