NASA, SpaceX Launches Final NOAA Weather Satellite

The GOES-U satellite, launched by SpaceX on a Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, marks the end of NOAA's program to enhance weather tracking over the Western Hemisphere. Renamed GOES-19 upon reaching geostationary orbit, it monitors severe weather in real-time across the Americas, the Caribbean, the Atlantic, and Africa. GOES-U features the Compact Coronagraph-1 (CCOR-1) for space weather prediction, providing updates every 30 minutes. This satellite's advancements improve early warnings for solar events, aiding in the protection of power and communication systems. It also enhances global disaster response and resilience.
